Crypto-mining exchange gets hacked
A Slovenian BTC mining marketplace called Nicehash has been hacked, and a digital wallet of some 4700 Bitcoins nicked.
Self-titled the worlds largest mining market place, NiceHash was forced to close ops for 24 hours.
While the world’s attention is focused on the ever increasing price of Bitcoin, it’s stories like this that should be the real focus. It highlights that even the big players in this game are vulnerable to hackers. While it’s bad news for Bitcoin, it’s another feather in the cap for the validity of the upcoming futures exchanges where there will be no connection to the actual cash market (Bitcoin). Crypto’s will remain a Wild West market until proper controls are put in place. I wrote this post on the pro’s and cons of trading crypto-currencies on Tuesday.
