December 2017 US CPI and real average earnings report 12 January 2018
- Prior 2.2%
- 0.1% vs 0.1% exp m/m. Prior 0.4%
- Core 1.8% vs 1.7% exp y/y. Prior 1.7%
- 0.3% vs 0.2% exp m/m. Prior 0.1%
- Real average weekly earnings 0.2% vs 0.1% exp m/m. Prior 0.1%. Revised to 0.0%
- 0.7% vs 0.8% prior y/y
- Real average hourly earnings 0.4% vs 0.2% prior y/y
The core is about the only stand out here. Wages are “meh”, though a touch better on the hourlies.
Between this and the retails, I don;t see anything that warrants a meaningful move up in the dollar.
USDJPY popped to 111.47 from around 111.10. EURUSD and GBPUSD are pretty steady as all the action is in the yen crosses which have jumped.
