Japan trade numbers for Jan 2018 on 18.02.2018

  • Trade balance prior 359B JPY
  • Adjusted Trade balance 370B JPY vs 140B JPY exp, prior 86B JPY
  • Imports YoY 7.9% vs 8.3% exp, prior 14.9%
  • Exports YoY  12.2% vs 10.3% exp, prior 9.3%

Better exports/imports balance than expected, JPY does not react much but had already seen a bit of a lift in the hour before the release to 106.15.
