Details of the UK public sector borrowing figures for August 2017

  • Prior -0.760bn. revised to -1.292bn
  • PSNB ex-banks 5.669bn vs 7.100bn exp. Prior -0.184bn. Revised to -0.716bn
  • PSNCR 0.037bn vs -3.912bn prior. Revised to -3.678bn
  • Central gov NCR 1.1bn vs -6.9bn prior. Revised to -7.15bn

Notes from the ONS.

  • Borrowing in financial YTD 28.3B, 200M lower than year-ago
  • August saw a small fall in Corporation tax
  • Estimates indicate full financial year ending March 2017 public sector borrowed 45.6B (2.3% of GDP)
  • Self-assessment receipts over last two-months at 9.4B (July & August) an all time high
  • August 2017 borrowing 5.7B; 1.3B lower than in August 2016

Not a lot here for traders to get their teeth into. Good news on the self-assessment receipts, meaning sole traders and self employed are making money.
