Details from the September 2017 US Challenger, Gray & Christmas jobs cut report 05 October 2017
- -27.0% vs 5.1% prior y/y
- Retails lead the total job cuts for the year at 71,057, +36.8% on last year
One thing in the report to note is the seasonal hiring numbers. Retails may be leading the cuts overall this year but they are leading the hires too with over 500k expected hires.There’s been 413k announced to date, down some 130k on last year.
