Further comments from UK Brexit minister David Davis in parliament
- Is relaxed about transition period but primary concern is future relationship with the EU
- Expects an agreement on transition period before the end of March
- 2 year transition looks about right for the UK
- It’s not a deal breaker that the EU wants a shorter transition
- During transition, UK will still be under jurisdiction of ECJ
- There may be arguments over the issue of doing negotiations with third-party countries on trade
No big news so far from his comments. The next big Brexit event circled on the calendar is around the EU summit in March.
