- EU has adopted its transition negotiating position
- Will offer UK a “status quo” transition without institutional representation until end-2020
- EU ministers took 2 minutes to adopt the new instructions on transition
That’s short of the 2 years the UK is pushing for. The EU wants to tie everything up as soon as possible so it’s going to mean more to and fro. Earlier, Theresa May has said that there would be some distance between the details of the positions before negotiations start on the transition arrangement.
