Minutes from the October 2017 ECB meeting
- Some officials were worried that the market might expect more QE extensions
- Keeping QE open ended had broad support but few wanted a clear end-date
- Smaller and longer extension was discussed but general agreement was for 9 months
- Several policy makers argued for de-linking forward guidance from inflation
Altogether some hawkish headlines, and it all points to the fact that QE could well come to an end next year. The full minutes are here. EURUSD has taken a new high at 1.1855. The minutes have just given it an extra reason to keep the move going.
