More in-house trouble for Theresa May
The Evening Standard are out with a story saying that top Tories are going to go over May’s head and start their own Brexit talks with the EU. Apparently a group of “rebels” want their own line into negotiations with Europe so they can compare it with what May is telling them.
It’s a crazy story and hardly likely to get off the ground but it does show that May is still facing a fight within her own party, and that sort of mess is something that might hurt the pound. The full story from the ES is here. It’s fairly light on specifics but it’s coming on a Friday so don’t be surprised if this story picks up a head of steam over the weekend.
