Can you imagine US 10 year yields just shy of 16% and the Fed Funds rate at 20% ? No imagination needed but what year am I in ? A clue in the picture – Tall Paul was his friendly nickname (and I’m not talking about the DJ) The point to this little bit of fun is to understand the importance of context. Also, look at the last rate cycle pre GFC. 8 hikes a year for anyone ? Would Sir like that with an extra helping of QT ? Every meeting live with 50bps bombs dropped out of nowhere. Those were the days.
