Good morning all, TGIF!
-Still holding long 1/2 cable from 2 sessions ago, trading any addition to the core from the long side inside 1.3175/80- 1.3250. It did break this morning but not adding. I’d rather tp on most in the 1.3280/00 zone if seen ahead of the weekend. A Brexit deal seems in the making but the market is now clearly in a “I want to be sure what it is” mode as positive headline impacts get smaller. EU won’t budge before the 17th either. Any denial could therefor see a bigger surprise drop in current context. Erring on the cautious side.
-Short 1/3 EURNOK. Didn’t get the decisive break above 9.53/54 on the close which saved me. I’m thinking once the NOKSEK wrong longs are out, we should gradually come off in tandem with EURSEK.
-Short 1/2 USDCAD from yesterday’s 1.3070/80 rejection. CAD didn’t follow the last oil slump, barring the London fixing spike, which is giving me a pretty decent feeling for the currency looking ahead to the BOC in the distance. I sold 1.3027 and 1.3048 last night as called in the room. Took back the first bit this morning at 1.3007, leaving 1/2 a position open. I’ll trade 1.2980/1.3005-1.3060 from the short side on any excesses. Above 1.3080 I’ll reassess the position.
-Waiting for AUD and kiwi to give a clear direction. They need to break 0.7130 and 0.6530 respectively to confirm the latest strength. I’m a dip buyer on both or the break as long as USDCNH doesn’t do any stupid to the topside.
On the equities front, Asia and early Europe are correcting the past sessions’ fall. Risk is in the lift this morning. I’d expect US to do the same ahead of the weekend. If by accident this wouldn’t happen and US stocks take a dive, it could get messy this afternoon, especially for the USD. I wouldn’t mind, being short the bugger. If we get a decent rally, I’d buy USDJPY to be in crosses to reflect positive risk. Yesterday already in all the heat, GBPJPY found good support sub 148. A move back down there would attract my attention.
As always safe travels and happy hunting and karaoke on!
Ahoy hoy
Nothing on the books apart from Dow(n) J. US30 short positions – Scalping any moves higher yesterday and intend to do the same today on any given strength .
Closed out the last position in my GBPUSD long in US session. Likewise with the last of the USDJPY. The later is tracking equities fairly closely – So I’m planning on reselling USDJPY on any further stock market wobbles.
Cant see much to tempt me at this time. I’m sure a few scalps will appear at some point today. I will update here if I get any ideas.
Have a super day and a wonderful weekend.?
Good day all. CAD finally got some strength back in the past 24Hs, USDCAD, EURCAD as well as GBPCAD are all turning down from previous SR levels. Looking to have a long CAD trade today or early next week depends on the price action.
